YEAR of the RAM is the 2015 Fashion Forward Emerging Designer award winner

Christina McFaddin, creator of YEAR of the RAM lingerie design label was selected as the 2015 Saskatchewan Fashion Week Fashion Foward Emerging Designer award recipient. The designer received a cash honorarium, presented by Dr. Roberta MacKay and Mr. Elmber Brenner, and a sewing machine gifted by Cindy-rella Sewing aned Quilting, based on criteria that as judged by three fashion and creative design entrepreneurs: business strategy, branding, design aesthetic, construction, fabrication, runway presentation, and cohesion.

The Fashion Forward Emerging Designer Award was created in 2013 to enable the receipient to invest in the development their business plan and marketing strategy, pursue professional development, and enhance their design portfolio.

"When I was announced the winner of the 2015 Fashion Forward Emerging Designer award I was at a loss of words. I thought I was being called backstage because I had forgotten a bodysuit from my collection, so when everyone started telling me I was the award winner I didnt know what to think or say. All I could think of was how fortunate I was to have such great friends and family who had supported me throughout the last few months.

I looked out into the audience and saw my good friend Dajana Rajkov, the person who encouraged me to show a collection at Saskatchewan Fashion Week- crying, which is rarely seen, I knew I had done well.

Saskatchewan Fashion Week has definitely given me the confidence I needed to take YEAR of the RAM to the next level! Her aesthetic is soft and romantic with very intricate and sometimes complicated construction, she chose high quality fabric meshes and laces that coordinated seamlessly with each other, her media package reflects her personal sense of who her client is and the romantic side of her product, I loved some of her full body suits that had a bit of a juxtaposition between hard and edgy but yet was able to stay modernly romantic, the runway presence was outstanding and her fit was superb!" -Dean Renwick, Fashion Forward Emerging Designer judge
