Cornwall Centre Wins International Award For Break Out Your Style Campaign

The International Council of Shopping Centers, (ICSC) in keeping with its long standing tradition of recognizing and honouring the shopping centre industry’s most cutting-edge, innovative solutions and creative responses to market trends, as well as outstanding examples of retail store design announced its award recipients for the 2013 Canadian Shopping Centre Global Awards programs. As part of this exclusive shopping centre awards competition, ICSC is pleased to announce Cornwall Centre, Regina, Saskatchewan, has been awarded a 2013 Maple Leaf Silver Award in this annual awards competition for its Break Out Your Style campaign. Cornwall Centre collaborated with Saskatchewan Fashion Week contributors Chris Pritchard (Creative Director & Co-Creator), Sara Lindsay (makeup artist), Riley Lawson (emerging designer & fashion stylist), Kiriako Iatridis (photographer), and Edge Agency (modelling) to produce the campaign. SFW launched the province’s inaugural fashion week in 2012 with an exclusive reveal of the Break Out Your Style campaign.

To attract more 16-34 year olds, Cornwall Centre showcased itself as a fashion destination. The Break Out Your Style campaign combined a mix of television, print ads, outdoor billboards, Facebook ads and sponsorships to drive a total of 18,369,023 advertising impressions. The successful promotion won three MarCom Awards, increased traffic 2.9% and increased sales 9.8%.
Professional recognition for this program was given to the following individuals; Krista BeBeau, Cornwall Centre, Cornwall Centre; and Doug Kozak, general manager, Cornwall Centre.
The 2013 ICSC Canadian Shopping Centre Awards competition are designed to recognize outstanding achievements in marketing, design and development of retail properties and retail store design. The awards were open to shopping centre owners, developers, management companies, architects and designers, and retailers. For entries in the marketing and new media categories, the majority of the program must have been implemented between January 1, 2012 and May 31, 2013. Within the marketing category, shopping centres which have designed and implemented the most successful marketing programs and initiatives that added to a shopping centre’s or company’s bottom line are honored. Successful projects such as advertising campaigns, cause related marketing programs, public relations programs, grand openings, expansions, and renovations, sales promotions, and business-to-business type efforts and initiatives are recognized within this category.
Awards were given to shopping centres that are less than 150,000 square feet of total retail space; between 150,001 and 400,000 sq. ft. of total retail space; between 400,001 and 750,000 sq. ft. of total retail space; between 750,001 and 1,000,000 sq. ft. of total retail space; more than 1,000,000 sq. ft. of total retail space; a company/corporate initiative, joint centre effort; and mixed use project. In addition, all 2013 Maple Leaf Gold winners are automatically eligible to win ICSC's VIVA Best of the Best Award. The ICSC VIVA Best of the Best Awards, which recognize the shopping centre industry’s most cutting-edge properties, innovative solutions and creative responses to market trends, throughout the world, will be presented during ICSC's annual convention, RECon, May 18, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nev.
