Saskatchewan Fashion Week emerging designer, Ashley Kasdorf, creator of design label, Kazz Clothing, has been selected to attend the Mercedes-Benz Start Up Judging Day in Calgary, AB, competing for the opportunity to be the Canadian designer selected to show a collection at World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto, ON. Fashion industry expert panelists will visit four Canadian cities including Calgary, AB, Winnipeg, MB, Kitchener, ON, and Laval, QC to select emerging Canadian designer finalists.

This is an exclusive and competitive opportunity that is limited to emerging designers who have been in the fashion industry for less than five years. Kasdorf will be required to present a strategic business plan, eight accessorized and styled looks, a portfolio, and a look book to panellists, and must be knowledgeable about Kazz Clothing’s marketing strategy, vision, and goals. The Kazz Clothing Fall/Winter 2013, will be shown on SFW’s runway on Friday, May 10, at City Square Plaza in Regina, SK.

The Mercedes-Benz Start Up program is an initiative created to provide a national platform to discover and support emerging Canadian designers and is produced in conjunction with World MasterCard Fashion Week. The initiative connects emerging designers with experienced industry experts and provides mentorship, professional development, and practical experience, to elevate designers’ profiles.

Kazz Clothing is based in Regina, SK, and can be purchased from Coda Clothing & Shoes, Uforia |Muse, and kazzclothing.com. Kasdorf founded the design label in 2012, focusing on women’s fashion that exemplifies European style combined with relaxed modern impression. The design label illustrates style that is evolving with the world while encompassing unique and youthful beauty. Notable features of clean lines, bold staples, solid colors and experimental cuts resemble Kasdorf for what she is known for: her style. The label explores styles inspired by the female silhouette with how the body contour relates with clothing. The label is about building upon and breaking past traditions to allow versatile refashioning.

The Mercedes-Benz Start Up Program was developed by Mercedes-Benz Canada, Inc., and IMG Fashion Division of IMG Worldwide , Inc., the organization who manages and produces fashion week programs globally, and is produced in association with the Fashio Design Council of Canada (FDCC).
